Khumo Pege

Khumo started music at age 12, with the beginning of his tenure at the Drakensberg Boys Choir School and going on to begin saxophone lessons at age 13 under the tutelage of Clive Staegemann. He has gone on to complete his Trinity Grade 8 with distinction and is currently a member of the University of Pretoria Symphony Orchestra and Wind Band, the University of Pretoria Jazz Ensemble, as well as performing as a solo musician and band leader.
Having studied both jazz and classical saxophone, he is currently a jazz major at the University of Pretoria under Abraham Mennen and Prof Mageshen Naidoo.
“I believe that music is a language, a science, a vessel for emotion, and overall just a way of life. I have always strived in becoming the most well-rounded musician myself and have always looked to pass that to my pupils.”
