Alastair Scobbie

Alastair started his musical career at the age of 12 at the Drakensberg Boys Choir. He started playing drum kit at the age of 12, and has gone on to play in various ensembles. This includes the Drakensberg Boys Choir, St Alban’s College Band, University of Pretoria Youth Choir, University of Pretoria Wind band, as well as the University of Pretoria Jazz ensemble. He has also played percussion for various ensembles, including the University of Pretoria Symphonic Orchestra.
Alastair has had a range of very successful teachers, such as Pieter Botha, as well as Gerben Grooten. Alastair has completed the Rock Schools syllabus, and is proficient in teaching drum kit to students of all ages and levels. Alastair has also completed his 3rd year of his BMus degree, with drum kit as one of his instruments. He has experience in many styles and genres, including jazz, rock, pop, latin, indie, and hip-hop.
In his spare time, Alastair is a massive sports fan, and spends his time supporting his
favourite football team, Manchester United.
